ROSH HASHANAH MENU

RECIPE: MYRA’S BASIC BAKED ARTICHOKE DIP
   
Start with Myra's version, but then you can get creative with your additions. It’s a quick recipe and your guests will be so impressed. You’ll become the guru of the cocktail hour.  

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1-16 Ounce Can Artichoke Hearts.

  • 12 Ounces Cream Cheese.

  • 1 ½ Cups Mayonnaise.

  • 1 ¾ Cups Shredded Mozzarella.

  • 1 Cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese.


DIRECTIONS:

  • Drain and chop artichoke hearts.
     

  • Mix all ingredients.
     

  • Bake at 350°F in uncovered dish until dip bubbles and browns on the top. 30 – 40 minutes.
     

  • For special presentation, put in an ovenproof ceramic pie pan or an enamel baking dish. It can be refrigerated like this and baked just before serving time.
     

  • It is best served hot with crackers, tortilla chips or bagel chips.
     

  • Alternative Serving Suggestion: Put about a tablespoon in each of 8 china soup spoons. Bake in 350°F oven until the top caramelizes, about 10 minutes. Let cool to serving temperature. Stand a cracker in each spoon and pass spoons on a tray while warm. Very showy presentation.
     

  • Another fantastic option is to serve from individual 4 ounce ramekins. Giving each guest their own little container, served on a small tray with toasted pita or bagel chips. Adjust oven heating time accordingly.
     

Suggested additions: only select one option:

  1. Coarsely chopped water chestnuts.

  2. Chop and sauté red peppers and onions and fold in before baking.

  3. Add one cup chopped freshly blanched or frozen spinach well drained.
